Start Practicing

Before you begin, we recommend you take a diagnostic test so that you can see where you are at. Once you are done with the diagnostic, begin the program. Each level will have a tutorial before you begin your practice. Read the tutorial carefully before beginning, as this will prepare you for the types of questions you will be asked, and introduce you to the cognitive strategies you must be aware in order to build metacognitive awareness.

Level 1

Time to learn a little more about metacognition by introducing our first stage: Planning. Set goals, set a purpose, and improve focus with cognitive strategies and practice.

Level 2

In this stage, we will learn to monitor our progress as we read. How well are we reading? How well are we comprehending? How confident are we in our comprehension? You will learn to ask yourself these questions and learn more cognitive strategies in this next level.

Level 3

Evaluate your own progress. How do we knew when and what cognitive strategies to use for different reading material? Time to be aware of how and when we implement strategies and judge our use of those strategies in this next level.

Mixed Practice

Now that you know all of the cognitive reading strategies to support your metacognitive reading awareness, choose from a variety of different texts to test and improve your skills.
